These paintings consider the exotic African landscape breaking down a traditional Kenyan textile design and reinscribing it within the fetishized zebra stripe pattern (perhaps the most recognized symbol of a homogenous Africa). This work further explores the tensions of locating place and history within a commercialized Africa.
